Disclaimer
This site publishes jokes, openers, and one-liners for entertainment. Nothing on it is advice, nothing on it is a method, and nothing on it comes with any promise about how another person will react to anything you say.
That is the whole disclaimer. The sections below set it out properly.
Entertainment Only
Everything published here exists to be amusing. The lines, the category write-ups, the explanations of why a particular kind of opener works or fails.
None of it is professional advice of any kind. Not dating advice, not relationship counselling, not psychological guidance, not communication coaching, and not legal advice. We are not qualified in any of those fields and we do not present ourselves as if we were.
Not Relationship or Dating Advice
If your personal life needs working through, a website full of puns is the wrong tool. A friend who knows you, or a counsellor or therapist who is trained for it, will be more use than anything on pickup-lines.org.
Not Psychological or Behavioural Guidance
We do not publish techniques for changing how somebody feels about you, breaking down reluctance, or getting past a no. Material like that circulates and we have deliberately kept it off this site. A line is an opener. It is not a lever.
Not Medical, Legal, or Financial Advice
Nothing here touches those areas, and if a page ever appears to, read it as a joke rather than as guidance.
No Guarantee of Results
No Line Works on Command
Whether an opener lands depends on the setting, the timing, the mood of the person you are speaking to, your tone of voice, and above all whether that person wanted to be approached at all. The wording is a small part of a large picture.
We cannot promise that any line on this site will produce a laugh, a conversation, a phone number, a date, or anything else. Anyone who promises that about any line is not being honest with you.
Reactions Vary Enormously
A line that charms one person will irritate another, and the same line can work beautifully in one setting and badly in another an hour later. Context does most of the work.
Rejection Is Normal and Is Not a Signal to Push
If an opener does not land, the correct response is to leave it there graciously. It is not a cue to try the next line on the list, and it is not evidence that a better line exists. Often the other person simply did not want a conversation, which is entirely their right.
Consent, Respect, and Reading the Room
This belongs on a page like this rather than buried somewhere, because it is the most important thing a site in this category can say.
Pay Attention Before You Speak
Somebody working, commuting with headphones in, visibly waiting for a friend, or already turned away is telling you something, and no line overrides it. The same goes for anywhere people cannot easily leave, including public transport and workplaces.
No Means No, Immediately
If somebody is not interested, that is the end of it. Persistence is not charm, and repetition is not confidence. A good outcome here is two people laughing. If that is not happening, stepping away is the respectful thing to do and the only thing we would recommend.
Workplaces Are Different
Lines that are harmless in a social setting can constitute harassment at work, where somebody cannot simply walk off. Context is not a technicality.
You Are Responsible for What You Say
Reading something on this site and then saying it to somebody is your decision and your responsibility. We publish text. We have no control over who you say it to, where, or how, and we accept no liability for the consequences of any use of material from this site.
Humour and Taste
Some of It Is Deliberately Bad
A good portion of this genre works precisely because the line is terrible. If something reads as groan-worthy, that is frequently the intention.
Some Sections Are for Adults
Material that needs an adult audience sits in sections that say so. If you are browsing somewhere that a label like that matters, note the headings.
We Are Not Everybody’s Taste
Humour is subjective and some lines here will not land for you. If something crosses from unfunny into genuinely offensive, targeting somebody’s race, religion, body, disability, or identity, we want to know about it, because that material is not supposed to be here and will be removed.
What This Site Is Not
Not a Dating Service
There are no profiles here, no matching, no messaging between readers, and no way to meet anybody through this site. We publish text and nothing else. Any site or app claiming to be connected to this one for that purpose is not.
Not a Course or a Programme
We sell nothing. There is no paid tier, no coaching, no membership, and no download. If somebody is charging money in this site’s name, it is not us, and you should treat it as a scam.
We Never Ask for Anything Personal
We will never ask you for a password, a verification code, payment details, or access to any account. There is no circumstance in which we would need any of those. Messages from us come only from the address at the bottom of this page.
Accuracy and Attribution
Most Lines Have No Author
This is folk writing. Lines pass between people, change as they go, and arrive with no origin attached. Where we cannot attribute something, we do not invent an attribution.
We Claim Ownership of Very Little
Our own written material, the category write-ups and explanations, is ours. The lines themselves are largely common property that we have organised rather than created, and we do not claim exclusive rights over material that was circulating long before this site existed.
If Something Here Is Yours
Write to us and we will credit you, link to you, or remove it, whichever you prefer. You will not be asked to prove anything. The DMCA page sets out the formal route for anyone who wants it, but a plain email is enough.
Content May Be Out of Date
Pages are revisited but not continuously. References to apps, platforms, or trends can age, and we make no warranty that every page reflects the current state of anything.
Third-Party Links and Advertising
Outbound Links
Where we link to another site, we do not control what is on it, how it changes, or what it collects. Following an external link is at your own discretion, and its terms and privacy policy apply there rather than ours.
Advertising
This site carries advertising served through third-party networks. We do not choose each individual advert and we do not endorse what appears in an ad slot.
We refuse categories that do not belong here, including anything promising guaranteed results with other people, anything selling persuasion or manipulation techniques, and anything adult-oriented beyond what fits this site. If an advert gets through that should not have, tell us.
No Affiliation
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any dating app, social platform, or company whose name may appear in our content. Where a brand or platform is named, it is for reference only, and all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Comments and Submissions Are Not Ours
Where readers submit lines or leave comments, those opinions are the writer’s own and do not represent the views of this site. We moderate, but moderation is not endorsement, and we cannot verify claims a reader makes in a comment.
Limitation of Liability
The content here is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators of this website are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, anything published here. That includes any social, personal, or professional outcome of saying something you read on this site to another person.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
No Professional Relationship
Reading this site, emailing us, or submitting a line does not create any professional, advisory, or client relationship between you and the people who run pickup-lines.org.
